Xposure Festival 2019

I recently spoke in The United Arab Emirates in September 2019 at the Xposure Festival, which is the largest photography conference in The Middle East (and one of the biggest in the world) about my project in Chernobyl!

I co-presented with Jeff Garriock, the filmmaker who made a documentary about our trip to Ukraine last year (the film will be released very soon, and I will add another update as soon as it is finished.)

In a joint-effort, our photography from Chernobyl was in it’s own exhibition for the week and we did a nearly hour-long presentation together speaking about our experiences in Ukraine on September 19th!

Highlight clip from Sharjah Media of Jeffrey Garriock and I speaking at Xposure.

Below are some of my images that were either in the exhibition or in our presentation:

Not only did I get to participate and hear so many industry professionals speak (and to see their work first-hand) but spending the entire time getting to know them personally was a real honor, and a highlight in my career.

Among the many talented photographers were:

AFSHIN ISMAELI, AMI VITALE, ANTONIO ARAGON RENUNCIO, ALICE WIELINGA, ESSDRAS M SUAREZ, FRANKIE QUINN, FLORIAN LEDOUX, GRÉGORY POL, IRA BLOCK, JASON HAWKES, JEFFREY GARRIOCK, JOE MCNALLY, JOHN MOORE, JUAN JOSE REYES, LAUREL CHOR, LINUS ESCANDOR, MICHAEL CHRISTOPHER BROWN, MOBEEN ANSARI, PETROS GIANNAKOURIS, PHILIP LEE HARVEY, RICHARD LE MANZ, SOMI NWANDU, STEPHEN WILKES, STEVE WINTER TIMOTHY ALLEN, WILL BURRARD-LUCAS, XAVIER PORTELA, ZIYAD ALARFAJ

A full list of presenters can be found at: https://xposure.ae/photographers-2019/

To make the whole thing even more exciting, my photo made the cover of the festival program:

Many thanks to Jeff for the following photo of me inside our gallery:

Thanks to everyone in Sharjah and at Exposure (especially Simon Newton) for the top-notch treatment and one of the best weeks ever. It was so inspiring to see how the people and government of Sharjah and The UAE value photography and the arts! I look forward to returning soon to experience more of this amazing place.
